Terms and Conditions

October 14, 2026

Welcome to the African and Caribbean Students Network (ACSN). These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using the ACSN website. By accessing or using our website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the website.

We want this to be a space where African and Caribbean students, societies, alumni, partners and supporters can connect, share ideas and discover opportunities in a respectful and supportive environment.

1. About ACSN

The African and Caribbean Students Network (ACSN) is a UK-wide network that connects and supports African and Caribbean student societies across universities in the United Kingdom.

Through our network, we aim to strengthen student leadership, encourage collaboration, improve access to opportunities and amplify the collective impact of our community.

In these terms, “ACSN”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to the African and Caribbean Students Network. “You” and “your” refer to anyone accessing or using our website.

2. Using our website

  • Copy, scrape, harvest or collect information from the website through automated means without our permission, unless permitted by applicable law.

  • Impersonate another person or organisation.

  • Use our website to harass, threaten, discriminate against or harm others.

  • Misuse our name, branding or platform in a way that falsely suggests an official relationship with ACSN.

We may restrict or suspend access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or where necessary to protect our website, users or organisation.

3. Membership and applications

Some ACSN activities, programmes and opportunities may require registration, an application or an invitation.

Submitting an application or expression of interest does not automatically make you a member of ACSN or guarantee acceptance into a programme, event or initiative.

Where an application process has specific eligibility criteria, deadlines or additional terms, those requirements will apply alongside these Terms and Conditions.

You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information when submitting forms through our website. You should update any information that becomes inaccurate where it is relevant to your application or participation.

We reserve the right to review applications, request additional information, decline applications that do not meet stated requirements, or withdraw an offer where eligibility requirements are not met or material information has been misrepresented.

Any membership benefits, responsibilities, voting rights or participation arrangements will be governed by the applicable membership rules or separate documents where these exist.

4. Events, programmes and opportunities

ACSN may publish information about conferences, workshops, mentoring, leadership development, careers activities, internships, funding opportunities and other initiatives.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • Information published on the website is provided for general guidance.

  • Eligibility, selection, availability and participation may be subject to additional requirements.

  • Registration does not guarantee attendance, selection or access to a particular benefit.

  • Event dates, speakers, venues, programme details and other arrangements may change.

  • Certain activities may be delivered with partner organisations, which may have their own terms and conditions.

Where appropriate, we will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes or cancellations to registered participants.

ACSN does not guarantee that any particular opportunity, funding arrangement, placement, internship, job or other benefit will be available or awarded.

5. Information on the website

We aim to keep the website accurate, useful and up to date. However, information may occasionally be incomplete, outdated or contain errors.

Website content is provided for general informational purposes and should not be treated as professional, legal, financial, academic or career advice.

You are responsible for checking important details with the relevant organisation before acting on information published on our website.

We may update, amend, remove or discontinue website content or features at any time. Where reasonably practicable, we will seek to minimise disruption to users.

6. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content on our website, including ACSN logos, branding, text, graphics, photographs, videos, publications and original resources, is owned by ACSN or used with permission from the relevant rights holders.

You may:

  • View and access website content for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes.

  • Reference or quote reasonable portions of our content, provided you acknowledge ACSN as the source and do not misrepresent the original material.

You must not reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially exploit our content without obtaining permission from the relevant rights holder, except where permitted by applicable law.

Permission to use ACSN's name, logo, branding or materials in an official publication, campaign, partnership or commercial activity must be obtained in advance.

Content belonging to third parties remains the property of its respective owners and may be subject to separate conditions.

7. User-submitted information and content

If you submit information through our website, including enquiries, applications, feedback, testimonials or other materials, you confirm that:

  • The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  • You have the right to submit any content or materials you provide.

  • Your submission does not knowingly infringe another person's rights or breach applicable law.

You retain ownership of any intellectual property you own in content you submit, unless otherwise agreed.

You permit ACSN to use information you submit for the purpose for which it was provided, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms or permissions that apply.

We will obtain any additional permission required before using identifiable testimonials, photographs or other personal content for purposes beyond those covered by the original submission or applicable permissions.

We reserve the right to remove or decline to publish content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, discriminatory, inappropriate or otherwise inconsistent with our values.

8. Privacy and personal information

We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly.

When you use our website or submit information through our forms, we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, university, society affiliation and other details relevant to your enquiry, application or participation.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, how long it is retained, and the rights available to you.

Please read our Privacy Policy before submitting personal information through the website.

If our website uses cookies or similar technologies, additional information about their use and any consent requirements will be provided through our cookie information or consent settings, as applicable.

9. Third-party websites and services

Our website may contain links to external websites, platforms, partner organisations, application forms, event registration systems or other third-party services.

These links are provided to help you find relevant information and opportunities. Unless expressly stated otherwise, they do not mean ACSN endorses the external organisation or its services.

When you visit an external website or use a third-party service, you should review its own terms and privacy information.

Access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, technical issues, security reasons or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

You are responsible for taking reasonable precautions when accessing the website, including using appropriate device security and keeping your software up to date.

Nothing in these terms requires you to accept risks that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits any rights you may have under applicable law.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, ACSN provides the website and its content on an “as available” basis and makes no guarantee that every item of information will be complete, accurate, uninterrupted or suitable for every purpose.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ACSN will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website, or from reliance on information published on it.

We are not responsible for losses arising from third-party websites, services or opportunities that we do not control.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

12. Changes to these Terms and Conditions

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to our website, programmes, operations or legal obligations.

The latest version will be published on this page, together with the date of the most recent update.

Your continued use of the website after revised terms are published will be subject to the updated terms, to the extent permitted by law. If a change requires your express agreement, we will seek it where necessary.

13. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are intended to operate in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal requirements that apply.

Any disputes relating to these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
